Welcome to St. Andrew's Cathedral PDF Print E-mail

Masses Resuming

Church Doors will be open for Mass 30 minutes prior to the scheduled Mass, provided that the Church has been sanitized after the previous Mass.  Entry to Mass is by prior Registration.

Mass registration is for Cathedral parishioners only and not friends and others from other parishes.

To Register a place at Mass,  call 250-388 – 5571  or email  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it (see registration details below)

Masses are at the following times:

Weekdays:      Monday to Friday:       12:10 pm

Weekend         Saturdays at 9:30 am [FULL], 4 pm [FULL] &  6 pm [FULL]

Sundays at 7 am [FULL], 8:15 am [FULL], 10 am [FULL], 12 noon [FULL], 4 pm [FULL] & 6 pm [FULL]

Please note that you are asked to attend only ONE Mass per week.  Find a Mass and let that be your Mass of the week as we move from a period of no Masses to resuming Masses.   No Sunday obligation to attend Mass for anyone.  Make any Mass during the week your Mass of the week.

If you are registered for Mass and you do NOT show without giving us notice, your name will be removed from all future registrations.

The Sunday 10 am Mass will continue to be livestreamed as will the weekday Masses at 7 pm.

All people must be registered for Mass .  Your registration is not confirmed until you have received a reply to your email or your phone call.  We need to know the names of everyone from your family who will be attending and not just the numbers.  We cannot exceed 50 persons although large crowds are not expected.  The number of Masses on Sunday will also assist in lowering the numbers at individual Masses.

Music will be offered at the Saturday 4 pm & Sundays at 10 am and 4 pm.  You may bring your missalette / missal if you wish.  None will be provided.   Masses will be mainly quiet at this initial stage and might even be called, as they were in former days,  a “Low Mass”.

Deadlines for registering for Mass

Weekday Mass:  Deadline is the 3:45 pm the day before the Mass

Weekend including Saturday mornings:  Deadline is Friday at 3:45 pm

No one will be admitted to Mass once the doors are closed.   Actually, they will be locked.  This will not prevent anyone inside from leaving should they so desire as they are all fire doors but it will prevent anyone from entering.   Be certain to set your alarms accordingly.   We are bound to follow protocols and this is an important one as people cannot simply wander in at will.

Consecration to Mary, Mother of the Church

In solidarity with Pope Francis, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), and a number of Episcopal Conferences throughout the world, on Friday, May 1, 2020, Bishop Gary Gordon consecrated the Diocese of Victoria to Mary, Mother of the Church.  To read Bishop Gary's Pastoral letter regarding the Consecration of the Diocese of Victoria to our Blessed Mother Mary during this Marian month, please click here.

Also, please find below the link to a letter addressed to all the faithful from the Holy Father for the month of May, issued on April 25, 2020.  In this encouraging letter, Pope Francis invites everyone to pray the Rosary at home and offers two prayers to be recited at its conclusion.

An update regarding COVID-19 from the Rector:

During this time of the COVID-19 we want to be present to the needs of our parishioners but also to protect our Office Staff from exposure to any illness.  Therefore:

  • Those desiring to purchase the Large Vigil Lights are asked to write their request and intention and place the money for the candle in an envelope and drop it through the mail slot at the Cathedral.  Do not come to the office to purchase candles.

  • Those desiring to book a Mass are invited to the same type of process or to phone the parish office.  If a Mass card is desired, one can be mailed to you.  Do not come to the office to request a Mass card.

If necessary visits are required, please make prior arrangements by phone or email.

Whether you’re just visiting us for a brief time, looking for a new parish home, are returning to the practice of your Catholic faith or are interested in finding out more about the Catholic Church, we’re happy to have you here.

A parish is a community of believers and a spiritual family that is supportive and loving. It can be a place to grow spiritually, to put your faith in action, and to use our gifts of time and talent as disciples of Christ.  Explore our pages under Ministries and Education for opportunities to use your gifts, expand your prayer life or learn more about our faith.

We look forward to seeing you!

St. Andrew’s Cathedral is very thankful to the City of Victoria for granting us a three-year permissive tax exemption (2020 - 2022). This exemption will allow us to fund many programs for our community and support outreach to those in need.
