Come and join Exploring the Catholic Faith (Year 2): The Church, Human and Divine. This course examines formation of right conscience, natural law and moral decision making, the first and last things, the communion of saints, the apostolate of the laity, ecumenism, the Real Presence, the Mystical Body of Christ and New Age spirituality. The second term will be devoted largely to the Theology of the Body. The course is suitable for new Catholics, returning Catholics and inquirers who wish to explore more advanced church teachings. It is a course in catechetics (learning the faith) and apologetics (defending the faith).
Time: Class begins on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 and continues on Tuesdays from 7:00 pm until 9:15 pm until Tuesday, April 25, 2011. All classes will be held at the parish centre.
Format: Lecture and group discussions examining moral dilemmas and contemporary case studies with four facilitators.
Text: New students will be asked to read Charles Chaput's "Living the Catholic Faith" in addition to Year 2's text by John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae: The Gospel of Life. Both books are available at Koinonia Bookstore or from other reputable bookstores or even on-line from Amazon.ca.
