Catholicism:  The Pivotal Players

Based on a new inspirational DVD series by Bishop Robert Barron which explores the lives of 6 extraordinary Catholics (St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Francis, St. Catherine of Siena, Bl. John Henry Newman, G.K. Chesterton & Michelangelo) who model for us a deeper friendship with Christ, a 10-week series will begin on Thursday, May 25th at 9:15 am in the parish centre.  Please note that this series requires a study guide, which will cost $25 (reduced from $35).  To register, please contact Bernadette O'Connor by email:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Discovery Faith Course Series

The very popular Discovery Faith Course is being offered again at St Andrews Cathedral for 6 weeks starting May 9th. Classes will be on Thursday nights at 7 pm at the Cathedral Parish Centre, 740 View Street. This course is free but donations are appreciated to cover the cost of the workbook ($10). Through this study people of all ages have come to see the relevance of God in a new and very real way for them personally, whether they are new to the faith or have been Catholic their entire life. For many, the course brought a breath of new life and understanding into their faith.

This Discovery course is part of a 5 course series;

  1. Discovery – Building a relationship with Jesus and inviting Him into your life: Jesus is the indispensable, core message of the Christian faith.
  2. Source – Building a relationship with the Holy Spirit and understanding of the gifts and fruits: The Holy Spirit makes a difference in our faith life.
  3. Growth – Strengthening your prayer life: Essential elements for spiritual growth.
  4. Obedience – Living obedience to God in everyday life: Practical lessons on obedience, surrender, and trust in God.
  5. Commission – Living your faith: Motivation to spread the message and mission of Christ.

This series meets you right where you are in your faith walk.

If you want to register for the Discovery Course, or you have completed one or more of these courses and are interested in doing the next one, please contact Bernadette O’Connor by email  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or phone 250-896-4136. It is necessary to do the courses in the order listed. If there is sufficient interest, we will look at facilitating one or two study groups at the same time as the Discovery course starting May 9th. However, confirmation of which courses will be offered will be subject to the number of people interested. So please call or email if you would like us to offer one of these faith studies.

Our Adult Education program is growing each year at St. Andrew's Cathedral, giving adults every opportunity to explore the depths of their faith in Christ through the Church's 2000+ year old history.  Please return to this page at a later date as it will be updated with upcoming adult education opportunities.
