Fees for parishioners who are presently attending Mass A Cathedral parishioner is someone who has been formally registered with the Cathedral for approximately one year prior to booking their wedding date and is a practicing and active member of the Cathedral parish. If the parishioner is not registered in the parish but is known to the priest or deacon, then they will be invited to register and are considered as members of this category. There is no fee for Cathedral parishioners.
Please note: The parishioner rate for weddings is set in order to honour the commitment of participating, contributing members of this community. It is unfair to them to extend it to people who simply change parish affiliations in order to pay a lower fee.
Fees for parishioners not presently attending Mass If you live within the Cathedral parish boundaries, but have not been attending Mass on a regular basis, then your status is that of a non-Cathedral parishioner for the purposes of the wedding fee if the priest or deacon agrees to preside at your wedding. The priest/deacon celebrant may choose to inform the parish office staff to reimburse the fee after the wedding ceremony if he is convinced that you have become a member of the parish community.
Fees for non-parishioners Currently, the fee is $800 for those who live within the Diocese of Victoria. For those who live outside the Diocesan boundaries, the fee is $1,000.
A deposit of 50% must be paid when your wedding is booked. This money is refundable in the event that you cancel your wedding. The final 50% is to be paid one month prior to the wedding date.
These fees cover the use of the Cathedral only for the rehearsal and the wedding. These fees do not include stipends which must be paid to musicians and the offering which is customarily made to the priest officiating at your wedding.
