About the event
The Liturgy of the Hours is an official form of public prayer of the Church to praise God and to sanctify the day. It is prayed at several distinct times of the day ("hours") by clergy and religious, and all the People of God are also encouraged to join in this prayer of the Church to consecrate their day's work to God and to give him thanks for all his blessings.
It consists primarily of a series of psalms or canticles, a short reading from scripture with a response, and may include intercessions and other short prayers depending on which "hour" it is.
